Question by : What will we today be looked at in United States history as one of these days?
The Economic Recession, School kids cursing and getting all angry with teachers, you know 9/11, people arrested for crimes, people not making enough money even when they work, you know the 2 wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, people not being able to afford things at stores, our 2 presidents Bush and Obama being idiots, terrorism, etc. What will make our history 60 or 70 years from now?

Best answer:

Answer by William
The Decline and Fall of the American Republic.

Actors and Musicians are consulted more than Men of Learning when it comes to Affairs of State; there is more interest in Snooki than the Founders of the Republic; Partisan Spirit has divided America along party lines; legislators are not subject to the laws they impose on their constituents; elections are bought and sold, gerrymandering and money have corrupted the Democratic process; the economy is in shambles, banks and corporations routinely lie, cheat and steal with impunity; public morality is non-existent, pornstars get more respect than members of Congress; American identity has been diluted, the Ph.D’s that are supposedly experts on the Constitution do not possess a figment of the intellectual power of the Founders; the Supreme Court has powers they were never meant to wield; American has become a kind of oligarchy that might be compared to the Roman Principate when the Republic was dead though the people were duped into believing it was not; Foreign Policy has been a series of unmitigated disasters since the end of World War 2; trillions of dollars vanish without a trace, many into the hands of pseudo-allies such as Pakistan; Etc. Etc. Etc. I a not writing a book here, simply answering a question. Apologies if time and space do not allow a more comprehensive list here.

Question by 2angel7: What do you think about the economic recession in the United States?
What do you see as the long term impact of our current recession on the average family? How might it affect their future decisions? Thanks to all of you for your answers in advance.

Best answer:

Answer by ronald.glass@sbcglobal.net
People are now saving more as a result of the high flying 2000 to 2006. This is a result of fear and loss of faith in the economy. We will now have more regulation of the financial institutions and less speculation and gambling with belief in ever rising asset values. This will take years to correct (decrease unemployment) as this has been the worst crisis since the great depression. It will eventually lead to more protectionism (tariffs, etc.) to protect our economy.

Answer by Daniel
The current trend is very slow growth. As for the coming 1-3 years so many different events can happen who knows but most likely it will either be continued slow growth or a total crash.

How did the Great Depression affect political developments in the United States?

10 points to the BEST:)) God bless you and thanks:)

Best answer:

Answer by MrV
To the public, it appeared that President Hoover did little to help end the Great Depression. But Hoover did not believe in direct government aid in the form of money or jobs to the unemployed. This was the job of the states and private charities. Since the Republicans were in office when the Depression hit, they got blamed for it. FDR and the Democrats offered the Americans a “new deal” for the situation at hand. FDR instilled confidence in the people and they gave him a Democratic controlled Congress for much of his term in office. The New Deal programs of FDR also created a liberal political alliance made up of labor unions, blacks and other ethnic and religious minorities, intellectuals, the poor, and some farmers. These groups became the backbone of the Democratic Party for decades following the Depression. The Republicans became the party of industry, the wealthy, and small business owners.

Best answer:

Answer by me y
We have learned cheap ways to have fun again (ex:going to the river, hiking, zoo’s, museums and so on), how to save money grocery shopping, and how to do without all that electronic stuff that we didn’t need after all. I have also just had my cable turned off and now we watch all of our cable shows online. It has actually brought the family closer together.

Question by Aaron: How has the current economic recession affected farmers in the United States and beyond?
i have heard a lot about the current economic recession in how it has affected various businesses, big and small, but what I haven’t heard so much about is how farmers have been affected. So, the title of my question states: How has the recession affected farmers? Has it affected different types of farms differently? Such as small, local, farms vs. corporately owned farms?

I would very much appreciate any help on this matter that anyone can give me!

Answer by Bored Goblin
not much. people still have to eat, and farmers in every developed country are regulated and subsidized by the government anyway.

Question by xOx Frenchie xOx: United States during the Great Depression and the New Deal Eras?
What is the context, or/and some specific details about, the cause of the Great Depression and how it affected society. What were the different strategies used to combat the Great Depression. What factors led to the failure of Herbert hoover’s strategy and why, in comparison, was F.D.R.’s approach so successful? What are some specific programs of the “New Deal” [accomplishments and limitations]. Did the New Deal get America out of the Great Depression?

I think that what ended the Great Depression was the war!

Answers?

Best answer:

Answer by Terry G
The war was a contributor on both ends of the depression. The main contributor was the over value of stocks and the sale of stocks with credit not forgetting the speculator’s greed; Hoover was caught up and blamed for things that were not of his making, he was slow in taking action thus received most of the blame.
There were several projects started, Tennessee Valley Project, Damns were built, Roads repaired Flood control levies built, any thing to get people off the street.
Remember the depression was not just an American problem. In Europe, for instance, people were forced to purchase food every day because the prices would change, sometimes every hour. Sound familiar?
There have been some safe guards installed in the economy system, however greed and power will find the loop holes and a sleepy congress can set us up again for bad times.

The history web site can be of more assistance. It would take up much space to be complete and it gets personal.
