Anyways, I’m trying to find “primary resources” for a project, and I have to research B’rer Rabbit and bear and so on and so forth, but yeah. I know that, during the Great Depression, the government had people go around and document stories and songs from just random people, and I think the story might be recorded. What was that project called? A link to the database would be great! Thanks!

When the cause of the recession was the fact that people were spending money that they didn’t have via sub prime loans.

If you look back in history just about every single recession has been caused by people spending money they don’t have. The USSR went bankrupt because it spent money it didn’t have. The housing market burst because people spent money they didn’t have via sub prime loans.

What don’t people get that CREDIT and DEBT is the problem?

people that actually lived thru Recession or The Depression have a very different view when comparing it to what the Media is telling us today. Unemployment rate, mortgage and interest rate were off the charts.

Well, it’s mostly the foreign media that is referring to the US economic situation as a “depression” and a recession is relative to whatever time period it is happening in. Just because a past recession may have been worse according to what was normal back then, doesn’t mean the current one isn’t affecting people just as much.

Everyone lost a lot of money, so they were very sad. Many bankers and stock brokers killed themselves, so their wives resorted to prostitution and their children had to work in textile mills.

In today’s uncertain economic times; many wonder, worry and speculate the stock market will crash and we are heading into another depression. For many this down turn is BAD news, But for thousands of low and medium income families they ay now be able to afford a lucrative investment at prices they can afford. Stock markets and trading are not just for the rich guy these days.

Finally a down market. Now poor people can invest and turn their fortunes around. Stocks are not just for the rich these days.

Step1

What goes up must come down. While congress is busy trying to find out how we got here; many of you are wondering how to get out. Downward stocks are great news for many; it’s ust knowing how and when Step2 Accepting your losses and pulling out is the very first step you should consider taking. Step3 If one month ago you purchased 100 shares of any particular stock for $ 10.00 (1,000.00 total)and today that same stock is trading at $ 5.00 you should consider selling your loss NOW. Walk away still holding onto half of something is alot better than nothing. Step4 So you loose $ 500.00 and tomorrow that stock drops down another .00 . Once the market revitalizes repurchase that same stock for the reduced rate of $ 4.00 per share. one hundred shares you now bought for 400.00 instead of 1000.00 Step5 In a perfect market the stock should shoot back up to at least to the 8.00 range netting you 400.00 of the initial 500.00 you lost on the down turn. Step6 Trading stocks are very risking and unless the company you are trading is getting ready to fold you should regain any loss taken. Step7 For the new trader the lower stocks are a bargain. We been here before our markets have dropped dramatically it’s nothing new. Be confident they will regain and shoot back up once again. Step8 As for you heavy hitters buying up the Dow for under 8500 is a blessing that many of us will only imagine. Step9 A drop is stock is not always bad it’s the economies way of balancing out the funds. Timing and patients is everything when it comes to investing. If you have an extra 1,000.00 dollars to invest or even 100.00 and you can afford to loose it. Wait until the stock you want is at an all time low. Than buy. When the market soon rebounds it’s likely to rise. ( Make sure the stock is not so low becasue the company is ready to file banckruptcy.

bad. bad think for everyone but its the people on the bottom who will get laid off first.

companies can’t afford to pay them, so they get laid off, which causes the workers to not be able to buy goods, so the companies are not making as much money, so they lay off more employeees

so basically its a downward spiral that will just make the poor poorer

The great depression was very similar to what is happening now. Fortunately people and businesses are more prepared to handle this mess this time around. I’m sure the depression was the last thing on soldiers minds as they were being shot at and killed by the thousands. People live through things if they are strong, if they are not they do not. Simple enough.
