Question by xx HR. UK: Is the horse market being affected by the current economic recession?
I’m just wondering, but are the way horses are being sold/purchased/trained etc. being affected by the whole economic climate? I don’t really seem to have seen/heard that much of a difference. It seems a bit of a random question! Are horses selling as well as usual? The only thing i’ve noticed really is that horses seem to be more likely to be out on (part) loan/exercised by others now. Any ideas?
Edit: I live in the UK which, by the looks of it, doesn’t seem to be suffering as much in the equine area.

Best answer:

Answer by Amber C
The horse market is in the dumps. But not necessarily b/c of the economy. But because it’s now illegal to slaughter them. But higher end horses are still selling well.

Question by BeatsbyDre: Have you lost your job recently? How fortunate should a person be to have a job in this economic recession?
My friend is a manager at McDonald’s and he says the recession is so bad that sometimes people with bachelors and master have been applying lately. Who else has found this economy extremely hard to find work.

Best answer:

Answer by doublechocolateyum
I haven’t lost my job yet but might soon (and already am working at reduced hours).

This is really a depression and people who still have jobs are fortunate.

Does McDonald’s really hire people with masters? I’d think they wouldn’t cause they are overqualified and will quit right when they find another job.

Question by Perplexed Bob: What kind of spin will be put on economic recession to make it a good thing?
If the country does go into recession in the coming months, what spin will be put on it to convince us it a good thing?
So far we have been convinced that shipping jobs overseas, a declining dollar, huge federal deficits, declining home values, a prolonged war, invasion over diplomacy, and giving up a few constitutional rights are all good things.
What do you think? How will recession be the best thing that happened to America?

Best answer:

Answer by Billy Shat
They’ll play the declining interest rate as a good thing for homeowners who want to refinance.

Question by dobbinscorey: How can the world pull out of this economic recession?
Everyone keeps looking for the next bit of good news supporting the idea that our economic woes are over. We see constant media spin on bad and good news so as to support an unrealistically optimistic view that everything will turn around quickly. How can we expect to make educated and wise decisions when there are those who are in control of the information are trying more to influence and manipulate how people think, rather than give them the information they will need, good or bad, to make realistic adjustments to our behavior and ideas. The truth of it all, that is being constantly shrouded by distractions, and media spin, is that we have a widely unrealistic view of our economy and the problems behind it’s collapse. The biggest truth shrouded is that our system can not support the number of elitists that believe they are entitled to a greater quality of life than the rest of the community. We allow people to take the lion’s share of our resources for manipulating intangibles, or for giving us something else to thing about. We support the idea that our money should make money for us. We no longer have labor, engineering, cooperation, and agriculture as an economic base, only things to be encouraged in our working class, while simultaneously encouraging our kids not to be a part of that class. “Go to college kid. Don’t work like I did.” Bad news folks! Until these ideas are more widely understood and talked about by the general community the good news is bad news, because it represents fake, and wildly unrealistic views in control. Elitism isn’t sustainable, greed isn’t sustainable, and our economy isn’t going to be fixed by a war it is going to lead to one.

Question by logicmarty: If we are in an economic recession why are store prices going up?
And, why are there more cars than ever on the roads with gas prices so high and going up. People by the thousands losing their jobs. People losing their homes. It makes no sense for prices, especially food prices to keep going up and up.

Best answer:

Answer by Pmpknking
Quite simply because businesses are at risk of going under. Foreclosures have gone up. Gas prices have gone up partially because oil drilling in the U.S. was put to a halt thanks to Obama.

I read that during recession, the share of business fixed investment decreases. I did not get the concept in the first place that during recession investment decreases. And the share of business investment decreases too?

Best answer:

Answer by Genderbiased
Everything decreases as prices are going down. Would you buy a house when real-estate prices are going down? If a business wants to invest during a recession it’s options are investing in a down turned market or keeping it’s money in a bank. They keep it in the bank mostly. When there is sight of an upturn it is then time to buy that house.

Question by 2angel7: What do you think about the economic recession in the United States?
What do you see as the long term impact of our current recession on the average family? How might it affect their future decisions? Thanks to all of you for your answers in advance.

Best answer:

Answer by ronald.glass@sbcglobal.net
People are now saving more as a result of the high flying 2000 to 2006. This is a result of fear and loss of faith in the economy. We will now have more regulation of the financial institutions and less speculation and gambling with belief in ever rising asset values. This will take years to correct (decrease unemployment) as this has been the worst crisis since the great depression. It will eventually lead to more protectionism (tariffs, etc.) to protect our economy.

What do you think? Answer below!
