It’s not a depression. And things didn’t start falling about until Democrats took control of Congress in 2007.

I learned in economics that the Great Depression itself is nowhere near comparable to today’s recession, but I’m wondering how to compare the two in terms of reactions. As in, how America has reacted to each.

Rampant inflation caused the prices to skyrocket, but the money in the pocket was worth a lot less.

most Americans lost their jobs in factories as there was not enough money to keep them running. farmers lost their crops due to dust bowls and other natural disasters like locusts therefore forcing the cost of food to skyrocket

Haha, EXACTLY the number of characters allowed in a question.

Anyways, I’m trying to find “primary resources” for a project, and I have to research B’rer Rabbit and bear and so on and so forth, but yeah. I know that, during the Great Depression, the government had people go around and document stories and songs from just random people, and I think the story might be recorded. What was that project called? A link to the database would be great! Thanks!

Obama says, “We are in the worst economic times since the great depression.” (I want my fear mongering back!)

So, do middle class taxpayers think they will somehow be protected from paying off this spending spree?
I don’t believe we are in the worst economic times since the great depression. Not even close. I believe Obama is using this recession to further his social agenda and it will indeed equal out the classes to just two……the very rich and the poor.

I actually think this depression will be the death of the middle classes.

It suits the elite for there to be only two classes – a small elite and a large underclass.

Franklin D Roosevelt started many work relief programs to help decrease unemployment during the Great Depression in the 1930′s. These included Civil Conservation Corps (CCC) and the Works Progress Administration (WPA), National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA) and the National Recovery Administration (NRA).

Does anyone know what these programs did for unemployed people or how the programs worked?

nothing practicly becuase the goverment couldnt do anything about that kind of problem yeah like u said there were programs that relifed but that was really to control riotes and such.
