What did families during the Great Depression/Dust Bowl do to cure sickness with their children?
Besides going to a doctor or getting one? What did they try? Anything unusual but common?

Best answer:

Answer by Who Else?
I asked my 86-year-old mother, who grew up in Oklahoma during that time period. She says that back then, doctors would drive out to your house if someone was sick. In other words, it was actually better in terms of personal care than it is today! Of course, medicine has improved – she adds that her mother used castor oil for most every ailment. I suspect that some families relied on folk medicine and herbal remedies, but I don’t have first-hand knowledge of that.

Anyways, I’m trying to find “primary resources” for a project, and I have to research B’rer Rabbit and bear and so on and so forth, but yeah. I know that, during the Great Depression, the government had people go around and document stories and songs from just random people, and I think the story might be recorded. What was that project called? A link to the database would be great! Thanks!

Question by grandma zaza: Since the lowest tax rate tripled during the great depression, is the middle class about to become poor?
Obama says, “We are in the worst economic times since the great depression.” (I want my fear mongering back!)

So, do middle class taxpayers think they will somehow be protected from paying off this spending spree?
I don’t believe we are in the worst economic times since the great depression. Not even close. I believe Obama is using this recession to further his social agenda and it will indeed equal out the classes to just two……the very rich and the poor.
Freedom rocks** “Yes we will” become poorer! Exactly!

Best answer:

Answer by RichB
I actually think this depression will be the death of the middle classes.

It suits the elite for there to be only two classes – a small elite and a large underclass.

What do you think? Answer below!
